How does the EPCB affiliate business model operate?
To cost-effectively meet the support needs of both start-up and experienced consultants, our business model operates at two integrated levels:

1. The first level is focused on promoting your business and supporting you with a robust methodology and quality knowledge-based resources.
This level provides you with a web page nested within our highly ranked site and comprehensive resources for your use when you deliver a risk-based service.

2. The second level of support is focused on joint venture opportunities.
This level supports your need for direct on-the-ground resources, collaborative teaming, or advice delivered remotely. This is negotiated on a case-by-case basis.

What is required of affiliates?
The two requirements for EPCB affiliation are "harmonisation with quality approaches" and "maintenance of annual subscription fees".

1. Payment of the EPCB Affiliation Fee: The 2008 fee is US$1,250. The fee is annual. The fee is reviewed on the first of January each year and is subject to change. Affiliation can be taken out for more than one year, at the currently available price. The cost for affiliation is currently available at the discounted price of US$900 per year.

2. Harmonisation with quality approaches: A key differentiator of EPCB consulting services is our use of quality processes.
(a) Affiliates demonstrate commitment to their client's "due care" obligations by applying best practice risk management approaches.
(b) Accountability is demonstrated through alignment with the approaches outlined on this website.
(c) Engagement with clients is transparent.

EPCB's approaches incorporate the tests of due care and due diligence used by courts and coronial inquests.
Unlike courts and inquests (which ask after the event) we address these tests before the crisis, emergency or disaster.
We do this by the rigorous application of risk management (process) based approaches.

Details of the EPCB Affiliated Consultant License Package - Three elements.

Element 1. A Hosted Web Presence.
This includes a listing, by name and region, on the EPCB "About Us" page. This listing is hyperlinked to your dedicated, EPCB hosted web page. Your EPCB hosted web page is customized to include information you provide - specifically, an image (usually a "head and shoulders" photograph), around 300 to 500 words about your experience and your specific consulting service specialities; and contact information comprised of a nominated person, telephone contact and an email hyperlink.

Information Exchange
Affiliates are encouraged to participate in our email network group (on Yahoo Groups) - an information exchange mechanism for EPCB affiliates which aims to enhance and develop network synergies.

Intended uses include:

Element 3. Rights to display and use the EPCB logo
You may use the "perched precariously on the cliff" logo on your promotional, training and other materials (including consulting proposals). This logo was commissioned from Rob Pudim, a well known artist in disaster management circles, Rob has been the dedicated cartoonist of the Natural Hazards Observer for many years. The logo illustrates risk as a function of hazard, vulnerability and exposure.

You cannot resell the image “as-is”, or in any configuration where the image itself becomes the main selling point. Examples of unacceptable usage would be T-Shirts and coffee mugs etc. - where the intention is to sell such products.

Referrals
Leads received through the head office will be forwarded to the best placed affiliate on a 5% commission basis.
The best placed affiliate will be a head office decision based on client needs, provider proximity and best service fit.

EPCB affiliation arrangements are aligned to the standards specified in the Franchising Code of Conduct1.
